International Day of Persons with Disabilities

News

3rd of December is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

I spent the day at my swimming lesson with coach Stattery and also managed to continue learning sign language so I can communicate better with my hearing-impaired peers.

Apart from my other hobbies: I’m a full time economics student, a professional athlete, an avid reader, a lover of nature and adventure but, most importantly, I’m a human being.

People with disabilities are  human beings.

Over 15% of people in the world have disabilities, most of whom are in developing countries where there is a lack of proper infrastructure to foster inclusivity. Where there is a lack of inclusivity, people like me cannot reach their full potential.

We deserve the same level of respect, opportunity, accommodation, inclusivity and dignity as everyone else and today I want to challenge you to educate yourself and play an active role in making the world a better environment for people with disabilities.

Think of the ways, big or small, that you could make an impact!
